Fashola dragged to EFCC over N78m website scam

Lagos - The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been petitioned over the alleged N78 million website scam built for former Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola, Premium Times reports.
The Civil Society Network Against Corruption, a coalition of anti-corruption organisations in Nigeria, petitioned the anti-graft agency over the “questionable expenditures” of the administration of Babatunde Fashola.

In a petition dated August 10, the group called for the probe of the controversial N78 million spent on the personal website of Fashola.
The IT firm named by the Lagos State procurement office as receiving N78 million for the upgrade of former Governor Babatunde Fashola’s personal website, denied receiving the said amount.

Info Access Plus Limited said its quotation for the job was N12.5 million, and that the state eventually spent N10 million.

The figure contradicts details released by the Lagos State procurement office, first reported by the budget analytic firm, BudgiT.

The listing shows N78 million was spent on the website.
