Six former members of a militia group in
Ushongo Town Benue State have reportedly
submitted their weapons through the state amnesty
programme.
CAJ News established that the District Head of town
with other stakeholders brought the former militia
members to the state governor where they
surrendered 28 AK47 Rifles with 243 rounds of
7.62mm live ammunition.
The men pledged to convince other militia to
repent and embrace the amnesty programme.
Meanwhile police operatives on patrol have
recovered a locally-made pistol, live ammunition
and a mobile phone as well as a vehicle from
suspected members of a robbery syndicate in
Gboko.
According to police first information report the
police operatives on patrol in Gboko town received
information that some men suspected to be
members of a robbery syndicated were sighted at
behind Union Bank's Gboko branch smoking Indian
Hemp and shooting into the air.

The team moved to the location and upon their
arrival at the scene, the said group of men opened
fire on the Police.
“A shootout ensued during which one of the armed
men was fatally injured, other gang members fled
the scene with gunshot injuries," police said.
The corpse of the dead suspect have been
deposited at Federal Medical Center (FMC) Makurdi
mortuary for autopsy and efforts to apprehend
fleeing gang members are being intensified.
