President Muhammadu Buhari has asked Britain for
more assistance in the fight against Boko Haram.
The president specifically sought assistance in
logistics, equipment and intelligence.
The president made the request when he met with
Britain's Chief of Defence Staff, General Sir Nicholas
Houghton, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President
on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina said Buhari
also called for more international support for
regional efforts to improve security in the Gulf of
Guinea through which crude oil stolen from Nigeria
was shipped.
The president said that significant improvements in
national security remained the topmost priority of
his administration.
According to him, other socio-economic initiatives
cannot be successfully implemented without
adequate security in the country.
