Leaked: How B’Haram Planned To Attack 50 Borno Towns And Villages – Former Minister
A delegate to the ongoing national conference said on Wednesday that he had information that members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect were planning to attack over 50 towns and villages in Borno State. The delegate, who was a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Ibrahim Bunu, stated this while speaking at the plenary of the conference. He said he had information that the members of the sect were serious in the planned attack. Bunu said he got the information through a telephone call and that there was the need to beef up security in the particular state and the country as a whole. “Mr. Chairman, this is the information I have to give the conference,” he said.In his contribution, another delegate, Edwin Clark, asked the management of the conference to set a date aside to enable the conference discuss the issue of Boko Haram at an Execrative Session. Clark, a former minister of information, said that when the issue would be discussed, it would be better to done with input of all the members.
After he spoke, the management of the conference, led by its Chairman, put heads together and announced that the matter would be discussed at a closed door session on Thursday. It was also said that journalists would not be allowed to cover the session.
However, another delegate, Mr. Saidu Dansadau, said the issues raised by Bunu were too sensitive to be left till another day. He asked the leadership of the conference to make sure that Bunu’s contributions were taken to President Goodluck Jonathan.
Also contributing, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) informed the conference about the bombing that happened in Adamawa State, adding that the issues were too important to be postponed till Thursday. At this stage, the few journalists that were around were ordered out of the conference to enable the delegates discuss the Boko Haram issue.
