Zaria: Leader of Islamic Sect Accuses Army of Killing Members
Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky
Leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, otherwise known as Shiite, Sheikh Ibnrahim El-Zakzaky, has accused soldiers of killing 35 members of the sect during a clash in Zaria Friday.
El-Zakzaky also claimed that his three sons were killed during the clash between his group and some soldiers.
He disclosed this to newsmen in Zaria Saturday.
Military authorities could not be reached as at the time of filing this report for their reaction, but sources said the clash with the sect is being investigated to establish the fact.
Members of the sect were reported to have blocked a major road at Zaria during a procession, and were alleged to have refused to give way when a truck load of soldiers were passing the same road.
The soldiers were said to have shot into the air to disperse the group from the road.
