Don’t force Oyegun out of office, Benin Aborigines urge APC
some governors of All Progressives Congress, APC, on the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, to resign his position over bribery allegation, Assembly of Benin Aborigines has called on the leadership of the party to resist any attempt to force Oyegun to resign, just a month after the inauguration of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.
It also advised stakeholders of the party to tread with caution on the plan to force the National Chairman to resign, insisting that the APC must learn from the mistakes of its predecessors in office as the management of victory was very crucial in running a good democratic government and sustaining it.
The Assembly of Benin Aborigines in a statement in Benin, Edo State, yesterday by its chairman, Prince Solomon Ebuwa, appealed to the entire membership of the APC to shun any tendency that would undermine public interest but to form a platform on which public confidence would be built.
“The change envisaged by the Nigerian people cannot be effectively realised and institutionalised if the ruling party does not conduct its affairs differently from the past,” it said.
Ebuwa commended Mr. Femi Gbajiabiamila for stepping down his personal ambition and embracing national interest by supporting Mr. Yakubu Dogara’s election as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, adding that this singular action can be described as worthy of emulation.
