The prayer of former governor Rashidi Ladoja and the governorship candidate of Accord in the last April Governorship election in Oyo State to submit the findings of the inspection team that scrutinized the election materials used by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) in the election was, on Saturday, granted by the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
The prayer by Ladoja had been filed through an application by his team of counsel led by Richard Ogunwole, SAN.
Ladoja had dragged Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside his party, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Toyin Akeju and INEC before the tribunal challenging the declaration of Ajimobi as the winner of the election.
Ahead of Saturday’s ruling, the tribunal had on 20th April, 2015 granted the former governor the leave to insoect all the election materials used for the governorship election at the INEC offices in Abuja, Ibadan and in all the 33 local government areas of the state.
Saturday’s application was meant to seek the tribunal’s consent to present the findings of the inspection team led Bimbo Adepoju before the tribunal and the presentation of the report of the inspection team “is also meant to serve as evidence in the former governor’s petition before the tribunal”.
